Pazhassiraja College was established in the year 1982 in the picturesque wonderland of Wayand District of Kerala situated on the eastern slopes of the Western Ghats. The College is affiliated to the University of Calicut and was founded by the ‘Pazhassiraja Education Society’ which was formed to cater to the needs of the local people in Higher Education. The founder Manager of the college is late Mr.T.U. Jacob, the then President of the Society. The college started functioning on the 20th of October 1982.
In the month of July 1992, the Management of Pazhassiraja College was transferred to the Malankara Catholic Diocese of Bathery. The fast development of the college owes much to the foresighted vision of His Excellency Dr.Cyril Mar Baselios, the Manager and Patron of the College, the first Bishop of the Diocese and the first Major Archbishop and Catholicos of the Malankara Catholic Church. In 1995 His Excellency Dr. Geevarghese Mar Divannasios became the manager and Patron of the College. In 2010 His Excellency Dr. Joseph Mar Thomas became the patron and manager of the College and the College continues its cherished journey of higher education today under his able leadership and patronage. In 1992, the College acquired the minority status in accordance with the rights of the minority community granted in the Indian Constitution.
In the year 1990 the college was upgraded when the Govt. of Kerala sanctioned the first undergraduate course in Economics. Subsequently other courses such as B.A.History (1993), B.A.Travel and Tourism Management (1995), BBA (1998), B.Sc.Microbiology (1999), B.Sc.Biochemistry (2002), M.Sc.Microbiology (2002), MTA (2005), B.A. Mass Communication and Journalism (2005), B.A. English Literature (2013), M.Sc. Biochemistry(2013) and MCJ (2013) , M. Com. (Finance) (2014) , M.A. Economics (2014) were sanctioned and at present Pazhassiraja College is a first grade College with eight UG and Six PG Programmes.

Computer lab:The Computer lab of the College is offering add-on courses on computer. The Students can join these courses along with their regular programmes. The classes may be available on Saturdays or during morning hours before 10.00 a.m. or in the evening after 4.00 p.m.
Audi-visual theatre:“Chitrasala” the air-conditioned Audi-visual theatre is a unique feature of our College with Dolby and digital sound system with blue-ray disc video screening facilities. The theatre is mainly intended for Mass Communication Students to screen their productions and also to conduct seminars, workshops and other conference of serious nature.”
chapel: Every academic year begins with a Holy Mass in the chapel.
Reprographic centre: The students can take Photostat of their study material from the college reprographic centre.
Internet facility :Internet facility is available at free of cost for all students in the College. The students can have access to almost all virtual libraries where a large number of costly books are readable through the INFLIBNET facility provided by the UGC
canteen :canteen is within the campus run on contract basis. Noon meal and other refreshments are served in the canteen on all working days.
Hostel Facility
Nirmala Ladies Hostel is the College Hostel mainly for the girl students of the College located in the campus itself.The Hostel is managed by the Bethany Sisters of the Bathery Province. The Hostel could provide accommodation for nearly 150 students.
