The Pondicherry Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology was established by the Government of India, Ministry of Tourism, in the Union Territory of Pondicherry in October 1991 and is now being sponsored by the Government of Pondicherry also with a prime objective of developing human resource for the hospitality industry. Besides, it provides job opportunities to the youth in a wide range. 
The students trained in this Institute are working all over the country and are working in abroad also. The Pondicherry Institute of Hotel Management is offering the following Courses which are ideally suited to take up a Career in the Hospitality Industry

Eligibility
A Pass in Higher Secondary (+2) in General or Vocational stream with an age limit of (18-22) years. Admission is through Joint Entrance Exam conducted by National Council of Hotel Management and Catering Technology

3 Years (Includes 20 weeks of Industrial Exposure Training)
 
Admission Procedure
Admission will be only in the order of aggregate marks obtained in the qualifying examination and on merit basis only.

The communal reservation to the students of Pondicherry will be followed as per the rules and regulations issued by the Government of Pondicherry from time to time. Relaxation in admission criteria and in age will be awarded to the S.C. students belonging to the Union Territory of Pondicherry only.
