Guru Nanak Education Society " was founded to start this college in 1970 under the project of mass celebrations to mark the 500th year of birth of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The founder Principal, Miss Baljinder Kaur Mann, a personality with administrative acumen was deputed from Govt. College for Women, Patiala who lead the college towards development in every field. During her stint from 1970-75,the college became a landmark in the town and rural vicinity. After Miss B.K. Mann's sad and untimely demise, the college came under the directions of Mrs. R.K. Sidhu. She rendered her invaluable services for a long span of 27 years. In October 2000, the supreme body of the Sikhs The S.G.P.C took the college under its aegis With the joining of agile,energetic,dynamic and farsighted Principal Dr. Tejinder Kaur Dhaliwal, the college has touched new zeniths of success and fame.
The college is sprawled over more than 13 acres with lush green,eco-friendly and picturesque landscape.Verdure all around and well kept flower-beds attract the on lookers and send a rejuvenate feel.The campus is aesthically divided into four major blocks with all modern amenities and infrastructure. The administrative block,situated in the heart of the campus, houses Principal's office, offices of various office bearers, establishment branch/Accounts office, committee room and a spacious waiting lounge. At the upper storey of this block, a spacious library and a big seminar hall have been built. For the effective functioning and management of the whole system,close circuit cameras have been installed in the building. Four teaching blocks have airy and well lit class rooms with fixed and adequate furniture, laboratories for Home Science,Physics,Chemistry,Life Sciences,Communicative English and an Audio-Visual Lab equipped with teaching aids OHP/LCD and slide projectors. A seperate block, covering more than 30,000 sq. feet, for professional courses has been constructed to address the requirement of the time with ultra modern labs, class rooms and examination halls. The college provides excellent infrastructure like sports fields, a gynasium and a day care centre.
Hostel Facility
The hostel block constitutes a seperate section within the secure precints of campus.It has been aesthentically designed with well lit, airy rooms, wide corridors, common areas,well maintained lawns, a tastefully kept huge dining hall and adequate facilities for in-door and outdoor activities. Hygienic & nutritious food is served to the residents.The Hostel also provides laundry services.
