The Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism was started in September 1993.
Endocrinology laboratory is a dedicated laboratory and is the biggest and the first of its kind in the whole of South India. It performs various hormone assays namely: TSH, T4, T3, LH, FSH, Estradiol, Prolactin, Cortisol, GH, PTH and 25 OH vitamin D .The laboratory also performs the Glycated Hemoglobin test , which tells about the level of diabetes control over the preceding 2-3 months. As a part of metabolic bone disease work up , an ion selective electrode estimates serum, urine and water fluoride.
