The department of Veterinary Parasitology came into existence in the years 1975. Dr. S.C. Dutt a renowned Parasitologist was the founder Head of this Department. Department imparts teaching, research and extension activities in the disciplines of Helminthology, Protozoology and Entomology. The department offers diagnostic services to livestock owners, farmers and veterinarians related to parasitic diseases by examination of blood, faecal, skin scraping and examination of different excretion and secretions.
Malacology laboratory is an unique addition to the department laboratories and maintains the infection free snails throughout the year.
Library:The University library has modern facility to collect, evaluate and organize information resources that adequately support the curricula of the colleges, the research programmes and the general informational needs of the university. The library provides access to about 3400 journals in the broad spectrum of Agricultural Sciences including Veterinary Sciences, Animal Husbandry, Livestock Management & Poultry Sciences, Fisheries and Aquaculture, Dairy Technology, Biotechnology, Animal Nutrition and allied subjects through the Consortium for electronic Resources in Agriculture (CeRA). Access has been provided to Krishi Prabha, a database of doctoral dissertations and theses submitted to Agricultural Universities in India.
Hostel Facility
The university has three hostels for boys and one girsls hostel separately with a capacity to accommodate 400 boys and around 140 girl students.
