The Madras Law College was the only college under its control at that time. To meet the long felt needs of the southern districts of Tamilnadu, the Government decided to establish a Law College at Madurai in 1974.Initially the college was housed at the Old university Building on Alagarkoil Road,Tallakulam,Madurai -2. In July 1980 the College was shifted to the new Building at Dr. Thangaraj Road, K.K.Nagar, Madurai
The college is having pucca building facilities with lush green environment. For the development of legal studies, this college provides various facilities such as spacious class rooms, Seminal Hall, Moot-court Hall, Legal aid clinic, rest rooms for boys and girls, ROS water plant facility separate staff rooms for faculty rooms and play grounds for all the track and field event facility etc.
Hostel Facility
Two hostels, one for men and the other for women students are maintained by the college. The men’s hostel is located opposite to Mattuthavani Bus Stand and the women’s hostel is adjacent to Sree Meenakshi Government College Campus.
