Selvam College of Physical Education was established by the pioneer in Poultry Industry and a Philanthropist, Dr.P.Selvaraj in 2006 under the auspices of V.Ponnusamy Educational and Charitable Trust, which was formed in the fond memory of his late father. The College is fully self – supporting and it has been founded to serve the youth of the predominantly agricultural, under privileged and downtrodden families in the neighborhood. Started with B.P.Ed., Course, 4 faculty members and an initial intake of 38 students.
The College has well laid out and maintained play fields for various athletic events and Sports Hostel facilities are provided for boys and girls separately. Quarters are provided to the staff members. Other facilities provided include Computer Lab, Gymnasium, Fitness Center etc.,
Library: The College Library has a rich collection of more than 6000 books on Physical Education, Sports, Sport Sciences and general subjects. The College subscribes national and International Journals and Magazines.
Laboratories: The College Laboratories are equipped with highly sophisticated equipments used in research in Sport Sciences and practical activities of Physical Education as well as for providing medical and Scientific back-up to students, athletes.
Master degree students are compulsorily given training in computer applications.
Well equipped fitness center and yoga for mind and body fitness programmes are provided to the students.
