Joya Gogoi College was established on the 25th of November 1991 and is situated about 20 K.M. away from heart of the Golaghat town. Eminent scholar and litterateur, Ex- finance minister and erstwhile speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly late Jiba Kanta Gogoi was the founder of this educational institution. The college was named in the glorious memory of his mother late Joya Gogoi. From its modest inception as an Arts college, Joya Gogoi College has now developed into its present stature of a famous full-fledged Degree College, imparting higher education in the Arts stream.
College Canteen:There is a college canteen within the college campus which is run in a free furnished structure provided by the college and supervised by a committee constituted for the purpose.
Group Insurance for Students
There is a Group Life Insurance Scheme for the students under L.I.C. of India in the college.
Games, Sports, Music and Dramatics
The college provides adequate facilities for games, music and dramatical activities for both boys and girls. Regular practice and competition are held under the supervision of experienced teachers and students showing proficiency are encouraged to take part in the inter college competitions organised at various level.
Xerox Facility: The college authority offers Xerox facilities for every student at a very nominal rate.
Hostel Facility
There is a newly constructed (two storeyed) well secured R.C.C. Girls’ Hostel in the college.
Scholarship Facility
The following scholarships are available for the students:
(I) State Merit Scholarship on all Assam basis.
(II) Post-Matric Scholarship for students belonging to ST/SC, OBC, TGL and MOBC categories.
