The Liberal College, Luwangsangbam established in the year 1979, is the outcome of a long cherished Will and Desire of the people in the area. This ALMA MATER was named “Liberal College” unanimously in a historic public meeting convened on June 3, 1979 by the four Pradhans of Gram Panchayats in the Heingang Assembly Constituency at the premises of the Srivan High School, luwangsangbam. The college is about 8km away towards the northern side of the Imphal City and the western side of the National Highway No.39 (now 2). The first regular classes started on the 10th August,1979 at the Srivan High School, Luwangsangbam.The foundation stone of the college was laid by Shri RK Dorendro Singh, the then Hon’ble chief minister of Manipur on the 19th of October, 1980. The location of the college in a beautiful landscape far away from the din and bustle of the city provides a very good and sound academic atmosphere for various courses of studies. The college has also been included in 2(f) and 12-B under section of the UGC Act, 1956 vide UGC orders No. F/28/95(CPP-I) of dated 19-02-1998.
