The Orissa Maritime Academy, an autonomous body under Govt. of Orissa, was established & founded by Sri Rama Kant Rath the then Chief Secretary to Govt. of Orissa with active support of the then Chief ytyMinister of Orissa, late Biju Pattnaik. in the year 1993. The Academy has been registered under the Society Registration Act, 1860 and is ISO 9001-2000 certified.From its inception. It is duly approved by the Director General of Shipping, Govt. of India, Mumbai with approval no. TR/A/74/2006. The Academy has got its first approval on 31.12.1992 and renewed on 21.12.2006. It was the first Maritime Academy to get approval & conduct G. P. Rating Course (Crew) in the year 1993 on regular basis.

	Eligibility Pass in 10th standard from a recognized Board with pass in Science, Mathematics and English as subjects. Candidates should have minimum 40% marks in aggregate in 10th standard and (40% in English either in 10th or in +2 levels.)
