On the 16th of August 1975, Krishna Menon Memorial Govt. Women’s College was inaugurated as an institution affiliated to University of Calicut. At first, provisional affiliation was granted to the Two year Pre- Degree course . Initially the college functioned in a high school building at Payyambalam. Later the college took over 15 acres of land granted by the Government of Kerala in the Jail compound at Pallikkunnu. The college was shifted from its temporary abode at Payyambalam to the present campus during 1982-83.

Hostel Facility
The hostel was inaugurated on 30th July 2006. It has the facility to accommodate 40 students. Administration of this hostel is vested with the Warden, who is assisted by a resident tutor. The hostel has 16 rooms, a large conference hall, dining room and a kitchen with modern equipments. There is a rain water storage tank and a newly constructed well to meet the water requirement. A clerk/typist, peon, cook and sanitation worker are on the staff. There is a night watchman and casual sweeper on daily wages. Each room can accommodate three students and it provides them with a healthy atmosphere to study. Students under Kerala State Sports Council Hostel Scheme also stay here.
