The school of Life Sciences of Institute of Science, GITAM comprises of the departments of (1) Biochemistry (2) Biotechnology (3) Microbiology and Food Science & Technology and (4) Environmental Studies. The school offers one graduate programme in Environmental Management, six post graduate courses and an integrated course through the constituent departments. Presently 31 well qualified, experienced faculty members are working in the school and several of them have expertise and postdoctoral exposure in advanced laboratories of USA, UK, Canada, Europe and many other countries.

	Eligibility A ss in Intermediate or equivalent examination with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks approved by GITAM with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology.

2 .	Bachelor of Environmental Management (BEM)
	Eligibility A pass in Intermediate or equivalent examination approved by GITAM. Admissions into B.E.M will be based on an all India entrance test (GSAT) conducted by GITAM and the rule of reservation, wherever applicable.

3 .	M.Phil. Environmental Science
	Eligibility M.Sc. degree or equivalent in any branch of basic or applied science

7 .	M.Sc. Biotechnology (Integrated)
	Eligibility A pass in Intermediate or equivalent examination approved by GITAM with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology. Admissions into Integrated M.Sc programme will be based on an all India entrance test conducted by GITAM and the rule of reservation, wherever applicable.
	Duration years with the option of multiple exits. If the student exits after 3 years of study, He/She will be eligible for B.Sc., degree. If the student exits after 4 years of study, He/She will be eligible for B.Sc.(Hons.) degree.

8 .	M.Sc. Environmental Science
	Eligibility A pass in B.E.M or any B.Sc degree or equivalent. First preference is for B.E.M students. The remaining seats if any will be filled with B.Sc students as follows: 50% of seats are allotted for life science and remaining for Physical sciences / B.Tech/B.Pharm students.
