Prelim-ARS / NET and ARS- Main examinations are conducted with a gap of 2 to 3 months.

ARS - Main (Descriptive Type) 240 3 hours refer eligibility of ARS - Main

Prelim - ARS / NET Examination consists of one paper carrying 200 marks with all objective questions to be solved in 2 & 1/2 hours. The paper has two parts (Part A and Part B). Part A contain 50 questions (each question carry 1 mark) with multiple choice or otherwise on general knowledge and science including topics relating to the seven main groups of Agriculture & Allied Sciences (Agricultural Sciences, Veterinary Sciences, Fisheries Sciences, Natural Resource Management, Social Sciences, Agricultural Engineering and Technology, Dairy Sciences and Technology). Part B consist of 150 questions (one mark each) with multiple choice or otherwise in the concerned professional subject. The standard of paper in the Professional part ‘B’ subjects will be that of a Master's degree of an Indian University.

Negative marking will be made for wrong answers in the Paper (objective type) and 25% marks will be deducted for wrong answers. 

Minimum Marks required in Prelim - ARS / NET Examination

ARS - Main Examination will have only one paper of 240 marks to be completed in 3 hours duration. The questions will be subjective and answers expected shall be descriptive. The questions shall carry equal marks and will be drawn from the professional subjects

Viva- Voce  : Eligible candidates who have appeared and passed in ARS - Main Examination will call for viva-voce, consisting of 60 marks. Viva-voce is mandatory and object viva is to assess his/her suitability for the Service for which he/she has competed.Final merit list will be prepared on the basis of the marks in ARS - Main + Viva-Voce (i.e. total 300 marks)
