Important Dates

DA-IICT invites applications for its post graduate programs for the academic year 2021-20.

At the post-graduate level DA-IICT offers a two year M Tech program in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) with project and thesis options, a 2 year M Des program in Communication Design (CD) and a two year MSc program in Information Technology (IT). In addition, DA-IICT also has a very rigorous and intense Doctoral program in ICT and allied disciplines, Mathematical and Computational Sciences and Humanities and Social Sciences.  To apply online and to access details regarding eligibility and selection criteria please follow the links to the respective program given on the left.

Eligibility:

M Tech (Information and Communication Technology)

A candidate with a qualifying degree in any one of the following:

• B.E./B.Tech. Degree in ICT or allied disciplines such as Computer Science/ Communication / Electrical / Electronics / Information / Instrumentation;
• M.Sc. degree in Computer Science / Electronics / Mathematics / Physics / Statistics.
• M.S./M.Sc. degree of DA-IICT.
• M.C.A. degree (3 year program)

The aggregate marks in the qualifying Degree should not be less than 60% or equivalent as per the norm set by the Degree awarding Institute/University.

Possession of a valid GATE score in CS / EC / EE / IN / MA / PH.

Candidates appearing in their final degree examination and expecting to complete it by July 2021 may also apply. However, their final admission will be subject to the condition that they obtain an aggregate of 60% marks, or its equivalent as per the norms set by the degree granting Institute/University.  All admitted candidates have to submit their degree certificates or proof of completion of degree, before 30 October 2021 failing which their admission is liable to cancellation.

MSc (Information Technology)

A Bachelor ’s degree holder from a recognized University in any stream with an aggregate of 60% marks, or its equivalent as per the norms set by the degree granting institute/university, in the qualifying degree examination is eligible to apply. Candidates appearing in their final Degree examination and expecting to complete it by July 2021 may also apply. However, their final admission will be subject to the condition that they obtain an aggregate of 60% marks, or its equivalent as per the norms set by the degree granting institute/university. All admitted candidates have to submit their degree certificates or proof of completion of Degree, before 30 October 2021.

M Des (Communication Design)
A Bachelors Degree or equivalent from a statutory university in the fields of Design, Science, Engineering, Technology, Humanities, Social Sciences, Fine Arts, Applied Arts and Performing Arts. Professional Diplomas from nationally recognized institutions such as NID, NIFT, CEPT and Srishti School of Art and Design will also be considered for eligibility. Candidates must have 55% marks or equivalent in the last qualifying degree/examination and are required to submit the provisional Degree certificate or proof of completion of Degree before 30 October 2021 failing which their admission is liable to cancellation.

Ph D
DA-IICT admits doctoral students under four categories:

Category A: Candidates willing to pursue research in ICT, and related domains must possess a degree in:

• M.Tech. / M.E./ MCA/ MSc/ MPhil / B.Tech/B.E or equivalent degree in ICT/CS/EC/IT/EE/Mathematics/Statistics/Physics/Bioinformatics/Electronics or other appropriate disciplines.

The candidates should have obtained at least 60% marks or its equivalent in the qualifying degree as per the norms set by the degree awarding Institute/University.

Category B: Candidates seeking admission to PhD Program in Computational Science, Mathematics and Natural Sciences must possess the following qualification:

• M.Sc./M.Tech./ MPhil/ B.Tech. / B.E or equivalent degree in Engineering Physics/ Computational Science/Scientific Computing/Physics/ Mathematics/ or other appropriate disciplines.

The candidates should have obtained at least 55% marks or equivalent as per the norm set by the degree awarding Institute/University. M Phil Degree holders will be preferred.

Category C: Candidates seeking admission to PhD Program in Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences must possess one of the following post graduate qualifications:

• M.A./M.Com/MBA/ M.Phil or an equivalent Degree in the desired discipline.

The Candidates should have obtained at least 55% marks or equivalent as per the norms set by the Degree awarding Institute/University. M Phil Degree holders will be preferred. The candidate must furnish a clear academic statement of purpose (SOP) conveying his/her intellectual background, research interests, achievements, and competences.

Note: Candidates with M.Sc./M.C.A., unless they have a subsequent M. Phil. degree will be considered equivalent to candidate with a B.Tech./B.E. degree and are required to fulfill additional course and research requirements.

The decision of the competent authorities of DA-IICT regarding eligibility of any candidate shall be final.

Category D (Sponsored Candidates): Candidate interested in pursuing Ph.D. in ICT and related areas must have at least 60% marks or equivalent in the qualifying degree, and must satisfy the following criteria:

• Educational qualifications as mentioned in category A or B above with three years of relevant experience.
• The candidates should be sponsored by an R&D organization with whom DA-IICT has established over five years of cooperative research programme or has signed an MOU.
• The Candidate who intends to apply in this category should forward his/her application through proper channel, that is, a forwarding certificate/letter by the head of the department/institute.

DA-IICT reserves the right to relax eligible criteria for the sponsored category for deserving candidates based on candidate’s research profile and experience. The decision of DA-IICT in this regard shall be final.

Selection Procedure

• M Tech (Information and Communication Technology) -Short listing criterion is based on candidate’s GATE score only. Admissions will solely depend on the candidates’ rank in the merit list. The merit list for admission to each specialization will be prepared on the basis of the GATE score of the candidates. The candidates can give up to three preferred specializations based on their eligibility conditions. Counselling for allotment of the specialization will be done online. Applicants are advised, from the date of announcement of first merit list, to check for e-mail communications from the Institute to learn about the admission status and steps they need to take to continue with the counseling process.
• M.Sc. (Information Technology) -
  The candidates are selected through an entrance test to be conducted at selected centers all over the country. The tentative list of centers is: DAIICT Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, New Delhi, Pune, Rajkot, Surat and Udaipur. The final merit list for admission will be prepared on the basis of the aggregate score in the entrance test.

  Entrance Test
  The test will evaluate the candidates on their mathematical aptitude, logical reasoning, basic programming, English Comprehension. There will be negative marking for incorrect answers.

• M Des (Communication Design) - Candidates for this program without a valid CEED score will be selected for interview through a Design Aptitude Test (DAT) to be conducted at DAIICT.  Candidates with a valid CEED score will be selected for interview if they have qualified Part A, and have obtained a minimum of 25 marks in Part B.  Further, for such candidates their CEED score will be used as DAT score.  The final selection will be based on the combined scores attained in the DAT, Statement of purpose (SOP) and the interview. The DAT will constitute 50%, SOP 20% and the interview 30% of the overall marks assigned to the admission test.
  
  Design Aptitude Test
  The Design Aptitude Tests consists of 2 parts each bearing 25 marks each.
  Part 1: This test will evaluate the candidate’s drawing skills and imaginative visualization. The candidate will be given an object for visually representing the object for imaginative application. Here the candidate’s drawing skills including human form drawing in proportion will form the criteria. The candidate’s imaginative ability for finding different uses of a given object and ability to create a story with communication value using the given object as a ‘character’ in the story will also be tested. Here the language skills and storytelling ability will form the criteria.
  Part 2- Will evaluate the candidate’s recognition and understanding of a range of design idioms, visual/performative art forms and practices from various social and cultural contexts.
• Ph D -The admission to the program is through a two stage process for the candidates who fall under the eligibility Category A and B. This involves (a) shortlisting (mostly through DA-IICT’s PhD entrance test OR GATE/CSIR-NET/JEST score OR CPI in M.Tech (ICT) for DA-IICT graduates and (b) a personal interview. The candidates appearing for the personal interview will be evaluated by a panel of expert faculty on foundational as well as specialized topics based on their background and research interests.

Application Procedure 

Candidates can apply on-line from the institute website. Application fee (non-refundable) is Rs. 1200/- (Rupees One thousand two hundred only).

The Candidate has to satisfy the eligibility criteria in order for her/his application to be considered for final admission.

The merit list for admission will be prepared on the basis of GATE score of candidates applying for admission. Counseling for allotment of specialization will be done online. Applicants are advised, from the date of announcement of first merit list, to check for e-mail communications from pg_admissions@daiict.ac.in to know about the specialization allotted to them and the steps they need to take to continue with the counseling process. The final admission will be on the basis of the rank in the merit list.

The candidates who have accepted admission offers will be notified to appear for registration, followed by counseling, document verification, payment of fees and on confirmation of admission, the orientation program.

Counseling will be done online. Applicants are advised, from the date of announcement of first merit list, to check for e-mail communications from pg_admissions@daiict.ac.in to know about the specialization allotted to them and the steps they need to take to continue with the counseling process.
