Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) : Introduction

The Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) is a common test for the admission process at the undergraduate institutes of Symbiosis International University (SIU) established under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956 vide notification No.F.9.12/2001 U.3 of the Govt. of India. In the year 2002, there were 3 constituent institutes of SIU. Subsequently ten more institutes of Symbiosis have been brought under the ambit of the Symbiosis International University vide notification No.F.9.12/2006-U.3 (A).

Symbiosis is known for quality education and offers an array of undergraduate programmes in Law, Management, Computer Studies, Health Sciences, Design, Media & Communication, Economics, Engineering, Liberal Arts and Culinary Arts.

SET(General) is a mandatory computer based test (CBT) for the admission process for undergraduate programmes at the following Symbiosis institutes:- 

1. Symbiosis Institute of Computers Studies and Research - [SICSR]
2. Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies - [SCMS] - Pune
3. Symbiosis Center for Media & Communication - [SCMC]- Pune
4. Symbiosis School of Economics -[SSE]- Pune
5. Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies - [SCMS] - Noida
6. Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies - [SCMS] -Nagpur
7. Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies - [SCMS] - Bengaluru
8. Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies - [SCMS] - Hyderabad
9. Symbiosis Statistical Institute - [SSI] - Pune
10. Symbiosis School of Liberal Arts - [SSLA] - Pune :- (International Baccalaureate (IB) students are exempt from SET)

Note : However, SET is not mandatory for courses conducted by the following institutes.

• Symbiosis School of Culinary Arts (SSCA), Pune
• Symbiosis Medical College for Women (SMCW), Pune

Law Entrance (SLAT)

Candidates aspiring to join B.A LL.B(Hons) /B.B.A LL.B (Hons) /B.A LL.B. /B.B.A LL.B  in the institutes given below, has to appear for computer based test (CBT) known as Symbiosis Law Admission Test (SLAT)

• Symbiosis Law School - [SLS] - Hyderabad
• Symbiosis Law School - [SLS] - Pune
• Symbiosis Law School - [SLS] - Noida
• Symbiosis Law School - [SLS] - Nagpur

Engineering Entrance (SITEEE)

Candidates who wants to join B.Tech programmes has to appear for computer based test (CBT) known as SIT Engineering Entrance Exam (SITEEE). The Symbiosis Institute of Technology (SIT) also admits students through JEE Main conducted at the national level / MHT-CET/ other state level entrance test. For Engineering, if a candidate applies to seek admission on the basis of test other than SITEEE, he/she need not register for SITEEE; rather he/she may apply directly to the following institutes at Pune and Nagpur through the institute website. Candidate should note that SET is only the first step. Each Symbiosis institute has its independent selection process. 

Test Structure : (Source: Symbiosis Website)

• The SET General -2024 has 4 different papers:- General English (16 Questions- 16 Marks), Quantitative (16 Questions- 16 Marks), General Awareness (16 Questions- 16 Marks), Analytical and Logical Reasoning (12 Questions- 12 Marks)
• The test will be conducted from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm.
• A candidate may take more than one paper. However, he/she will have to choose one paper from the morning session and one paper from the afternoon session. Candidates are advised to make this decision at the time of their online registration.
• There is no negative marks for wrong answers.

Short Listing And Selection Process :

Admissions to the select programmes at SIU are strictly based on merit, assessment of individual performance in the respective Entrance Test for Undergraduate Studies and other processes prescribed by the University. Short Listing  For Personal Interaction (PI) and Writing Ability Test (WAT) OR Studio Test (ST) and Personal Interaction (PI):
Candidates will be shortlisted for PI-WAT/ST-PI based on their respective Entrance Test marks, minimum 50 Marks. Please check the respective institute website for information and dates of PI-WAT/ST-PI.

Disclaimer: It is mandatory to attend all components / tests of PI-WAT/ST-PI to be eligible for admission to any UG programmes. Only candidates who attend all components / tests of selection process (PI-WAT/ST-PI) shall be considered as eligible for generation of merit / wait / reject list. Candidates who remain absent for any one of the component / test will be considered as ineligible for selection process of UG degree programmes of SIU.
