JIPMER invites applications for academic session starting from July 2021 for admission to M.B.B.S. COURSE – July 2021 Session

Admission to MBBS Course for the year 2021 at JIPMER will be through NEET UG – 2021  by National Testing Agency, not by JIPMER, Puducherry. For details visit www.nta.ac.in, ntaneet.nic.in

In reference to communication received from Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and several queries received in regard to MBBS-2021 Entrance Examination for year 2021, it is hereby informed that to the provisions the Section(14) of the National Medical Commission Act, 2021, provides for holding of a common and uniform National Eligibility-Cum Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to the undergraduate medical courses in all medical institutions including those governed under any other law.

Therefore, the admission to MBBS course in JIPMER Puducherry and JIPMER Karaikal will be made through NEET(UG) and the entrance exam will be conducted by National Testing Agency, NOT by JIPMER, Puducherry for the year 2021 session onwards

The NEET (UG) - 2021 will be conducted on Sunday, 3rd May, 2021. The responsibility of the NTA is limited to the conduct of the entrance examination, declaration of result and for providing an “All India Rank merit list” to the Directorate General Health Service, Government of India for the conduct of counselling for 15% All India Quota Seats and for supplying the result to States/other Counselling Authorities.

Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research is one of the oldest medical institutes in India established by French Government as “Ecole de Medicine de Pondichery” in 1823. In 1956 it was overtaken by Government of India and subsequently renamed as Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research. JIPMER has a large residential campus with 195 acres of land. It has all modern facilities and infrastructure along with highly skilled and experienced faculty.

Eligibility Criteria

• The Applicant should be an Indian National.
• He/She has completed age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete the age on or before 31st December 2021, the year of his/her admission to the 1st year M.B.B.S., i.e. they should have been born on or before 01-01-2004
  (Request for relaxation from the prescribed age limit will not be considered for any category of applicants).
  No upper age limit
• The applicants should have passed the qualifying examinations in the manner mentioned below:
  (a) The Higher / Senior Secondary Examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination which is equivalent to 10+2 Higher / Senior Secondary Examination after a period of 12 years study, the last two years of such study comprising Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Bio-technology (which shall include practical tests in these subjects) or any other elective with English at a level not less than the core course for English as prescribed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training after introduction of the 10+2+3 educational structure as recommended by the National Committee on Education
  (b) The applicant must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Bio-technology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Bio-technology at the qualifying examination and competitive entrance examination. For candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribe or Other Backward Classes / OPH the marks obtained in the Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Bio-technology taken together in the qualifying examination and competitive entrance examination is 40%.
  (c) For OPH candidates in general category the minimum marks taken together in the qualifying examination and competitive entrance examination will be 45%.

Duration

Duration of the course is 4 years and 6 months as per the Academic Calendar of JIPMER followed by 1 year of Compulsory Rotatory Internship for award of Degree.

Application Procedure :

The application can be made only on ONLINE. 

JIPMER MBBS 2021 Applications has to be submitted by ON LINE process (Internet based) by accessing the website: www.jipmer.edu.in. Application fee for general category Rs.1500/- (For SC/ST: Rs.1200/- only). Payment through computer generated challan form in any branch of State Bank of India.
