National Testing Agency (NTA) National Eligibility cum Entrance
Examination (NEET) scores will be the basis for admission to Puducherry and
Karaikal campuses of JIPMER and the counselling will be conducted by the Medical
Counselling Committee (MCC), Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS),
Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India (GoI) for
both the campuses. Visit www.mcc.nic.in
for information on the schedule of counselling and seat allotment procedures.
Note: Candidates are advised to read this Prospectus
carefully and thoroughly before choosing JIPMER Puducherry or JIPMER Karaikal
seats during exercise of seat options in the online counselling held by the
Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), Directorate General of Health Services
(DGHS), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. For the
purpose of counselling and admission, Puducherry and Karaikal campuses of JIPMER
are considered as separate entities and no transfer/exchange of seats at any
later date is permitted.
Eligibility Criteria
- The Applicant should be an Indian National.
- He/She has completed age of 17
years (No upper age limit )
- The applicants should have passed the qualifying examinations in the manner
mentioned below:
(a) The Higher / Senior Secondary Examination or the Indian School Certificate
Examination which is equivalent to 10+2 Higher / Senior Secondary Examination
after a period of 12 years study, the last two years of such study comprising
Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Bio-technology (which shall include practical
tests in these subjects) or any other elective with English at a level not
less than the core course for English as prescribed by the National Council
of Educational Research and Training after introduction of the 10+2+3 educational
structure as recommended by the National Committee on Education
(b) The applicant must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry,
Biology / Bio-technology and English individually and must have obtained a
minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Bio-technology
at the qualifying examination and competitive entrance examination. For candidates
belonging to the Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribe or Other Backward Classes
/ OPH the marks obtained in the Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Bio-technology
taken together in the qualifying examination and competitive entrance examination
is 40%.
(c) For OPH candidates in general category the minimum marks taken together
in the qualifying examination and competitive entrance examination will be
45%.
Duration
The duration of the MBBS course is 4 years and 6 months followed by ONE year
of Compulsory Rotatory Internship for the award of the Degree.
Admission process
Admission process will be held at JIPMER Academic Centre (JAC), JIPMER,
Puducherry. The candidates should bring the following at the time of admission
within the stipulated time period, failing which, admission will be denied:
- All the certificates in original (as given in the list below)
- One set of self-attested photocopies of all the certificates
- Three Passport size recent colour photographs
List of certificates to be submitted at the time of admission
- Identity proof (as mentioned in the NTA NEET 2024 Information Bulletin).
- Admit Cards of Exam issued by NTA.
- Result/ Rank letter issued by NTA.
- Provisional allotment letter generated on-line.
- Proof of Date of Birth (Birth Certificate or X Std. Certificate).
- 10th Standard Certificate.
- Pass Certificate of the qualifying examination.
- Statement of marks of the qualifying examination.
- Character/ Conduct Certificate from the Head of the Institute last
studied.
- Residence Certificate issued by Revenue Authority not below the rank of
Tahsildar/Aadhaar card.
- In case of Other Backward Classes/ Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe, a
Community Certificate, recently obtained from the competent authority – (as
mentioned in the NTA NEET 2024 Information Bulletin)
- Economically Weaker Sections (EWSs) candidates should produce the
required Income & Asset Certificate as (as mentioned in the NTA NEET 2024
Information Bulletin)
- Transfer/ Migration Certificate from the Head of the Institution last
studied.
- In case of Puducherry residents, the Residence Certificate / Employer
Certificate as required in the Prospectus as per Annexure I in official
website.
- Medical Certificate from the authorised-centres as listed in the NTA
NEET 2024 Information Bulletin in case of PwBD Candidate.
If a candidate does not have this document at the time of admission, a
maximum of oneweek time will be given from the date of issue of the provisional
admission order to submit this document
