SSC conducts All India Open Competitive Examination for recruitment to the posts of Stenographer Grade 'C' ( Group 'B' Non-Gazetted ) in Pay B and 2 plus Grade Pay as admissible and Stenographer Grade 'D' (Group 'C' Non-Technical) in Pay Band 1 plus Grade Pay as admissible in various Central Government Ministries / Departments / Offices. Staff Selection Commission is an organisation under the Government of India to recruit staff for various posts in the various ministries and departments of the government of India and in subordinate offices and agencies.
The selection process includes a Computer Based Test and a Skill Test.
Question paper will be of Objective Multiple choice type. Questions
will be set in Hindi and English except Part-III.
There will be negative
marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. Candidates are, therefore,
advised to keep this in mind while answering the question.
Canvassing in any
form will disqualifying the candidates.
Minimum Essential Qualification: 12th Class pass or equivalent from a recognized Board or University.
Age limit:
The crucial date for age reckoning is fixed as 01.08.2026 in accordance with the provisions of DoP&T OM No. 14017/70/87-Estt.(RR) dated 14-07-1988. The age limits for the posts as per the Recruitment Rules of various User Departments are:
(a) Stenographer Grade C : 18 to 30 years as on 01.08.2026
(b)
Stenographer Grade D : 18 to 27 years as on 01.08.2026
Nationality/Citizenship:
A candidate must be either:
(a) a citizen of India, or
(b) a subject of Nepal, or
(c) a subject of Bhutan, or
(d)a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri
Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania
(Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam
with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (a), (b) and (c) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.
A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary may be admitted to the examination but the Offer of appointment will be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate has been issued to him by Government of India.
Mode of payment: Fee Payable Rs. 100/-(Rupees One Hundred only)
How to apply:
Applications must be submitted only in the prescribed format On-line or by Post.
The commission encourages candidates to apply on-line. Submission of 'on-line'
application avoid data discrepancies non/wrong delivery of admiit cards etc.
as admit card can be downloaded from the website of the commission. Candidates
desirous of submitting on line applications may do so. Such candidates should
retain their registration number assigned to them on line for correspondence
with the commission. They should not submit print outs of their application
to the commission. The facility of on-line application will be available at
website https://ssc.gov.in/
(i) For the candidates sending the application by post:
The candidates submitting Paper application should pay the fee by means of "Central Recruitment Fee Stamps(CRFS)"only . CRFS are available at the counter of all Departmental Post Offices of the country. Recruitment Fee Stamps should be pasted on the application form in the space earmarked for the purpose and got cancelled from the Counter of Post Office of issue with the date stamp of the Issuing Post Office in such a manner that the impression or the cancellation stamp partially overflows on the Application Form itself, taking care at the same time that the impression is clear and distinct to facilitate the identification of date and Post Office of issue at any subsequent stage. After getting the Recruitment Fee Stamps cancelled from the Post Office, the candidate must submit their application to the concerned Regional Office/Sub Regional Offices of the Commission in the usual manner after completing other formalities.
(ii) For the candidates submitting their applications on-line:
The candidates submitting their applications on-line should pay the requisite fee as per instructions in Annexure-II(B) in the official website.
