Applications are invited for admission to M.Tech programme of IIT, Madras for the academic year 2021
M.Tech programme is offered in the Departments of Aerospace Engg., Applied Mechanics, Chemical Engg., Civil Engg., Computer Science and Engg., Electrical Engg., Mathematics (Industrial Mathematics and Scientific Computing), Mechanical Engg., Metallurgical and Materials Engg., Ocean Engg., and Physics (Solid State Technology). In addition, interdisciplinary programmes in Catalysis Technology, Nuclear Engg. and Petroleum Engg. and M.Tech. in Clinical Engineering are also offered.
Qualification :
(a) Bachelor’s degree in Engineering /Technology /Architecture or equivalent,
or Master’s degree in Chemistry/Mathematics/Physics/Life Sciences or related
subjects or Associate Membership in professional bodies as such as AMIE etc.
as specified in the M.Tech Admission website (http://mtechadm.iitm.ac.in)
or
(b) Degrees obtained through distance education/correspondence mode, the Departments
will follow interview procedure for screening in such cases.
and
(c) Qualified in GATE 2018 or 2019. (Candidates graduating/graduated with B.Tech.
degree from IITs with CGPA of 7.5 and above for SC/ST category and 8.0 and above
for others can apply without GATE score).
Seats are reserved for SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy layer)/Persons with Disabilities as per Government of India rules.
Assistantship : Candidates admitted to M.Tech. programme are offered Half-time Teaching Assistantship (HTTA) of Rs.12,400/-p.m. Admission to a few additional candidates who are under merit list may also be offered without HTTA. They may get HTTA after 6 months depending upon vacancy. Meritorious M.Tech. students are eligible for conversion to Ph.D programme after one year. A limited number of selected candidates will get opportunity to do M.Tech. project in Germany under DAAD fellowship scheme.
DAE-Graduate Fellowship (DAE-GF) Scheme and Atomic Energy Regulatory Board Graduate Fellowship (AERB-GF) may be available to a few eligible candidates.
How to Apply : Application can be submitted only ONLINE. The application fee is Rs.200/- for SC/ST/PwD candidates and Rs.400/- for others ( to be paid online). Instructions on how to apply are available on the website: mtechadm.iitm.ac.in.
