National Brain Research Centre (NBRC) invites applications for admissions to PhD and M.Sc. (Neuroscience) Programmes for the academic year 2022.
NBRC admissions to the Ph.D. and M.Sc.(Neuroscience) programmes are through JGEEBILS (Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences).
Candidates, who are appearing for JGEEBILS can apply for both Ph.D. and M.Sc.(Neuroscience) programs of NBRC.
Students from diverse academic backgrounds are considered for Ph.D. programme in Neuroscience.
Fellowships:
NBRC offers Fellowship for for Ph.D. programme in Neuroscience : Junior Research Fellows is Rs.25000/- per month and for Senior Research Fellows Rs.28000/- per month
For M.Sc. (Neuroscience) - NBRC is one of the few Institutes in the country to offer M.Sc. (Neuroscience) degree. Students are provided a fellowship of Rs.12000/- per month
Eligibility Criteria
For PhD (Neuroscience)
Master's degree or equivalent in any branch of Science such as Life Sciences /
Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer applications /
Pharmacy / Veterinary Science / Psychology from a recognized Institute /
University or a minimum of four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent in
Engineering / Technology / Medicine from a recognized Institute / University.
Candidates appearing for final year of the qualifying examination are also
eligible to apply.
Candidates with at least 55% (50% for SC / ST / PH candidates) marks or equivalent grade or grade point average from secondary (10th) examination onwards will be considered. Candidates should calculate their percentage up to two decimal points to determine their eligibility.
For M.Sc. (Neuroscience)
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in any branch of Science such as Life Sciences / Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer applications / Pharmacy / Veterinary Science / Psychology / Engineering / Technology / Medicine from a recognized Institute / University.
Candidates appearing for final year of the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply

Selection Procedure
National Brain Research Centre (NBRC) will select candidates through following channels for admissions to following programs for the year 2022
PhD (Neuroscience)
Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences (JGEEBILS). https://www.ncbs.res.in/academic/admissions-JGEEBILS.
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE-2018/GATE-2022) in Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics / Electrical Engineering / Electronics and Communications Engineering / Computer Science and Information Technology / Instrumentation Engineering. Candidates who qualified in GATE-2018 in these subjects are also eligible to apply
Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST) (2022)
CSIR / UGC / DBT / ICMR examination for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Biology / Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics (the candidates should also fulfil the eligibility criteria of NBRC for Ph.D. programme). Also their fellowship should be valid to be activated upto 31st August, 2022 or later.
Ph.D. programme candidates will be short-listed for a two-tier interview to be held at NBRC based on their performance in the JGEEBILS or qualifying GATE -2017/GATE-2018 examinations / JEST-2018 examination or qualifying CSIR/UGC/DBT/ICMR examination for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) (valid for activation upto 31st August 2022 or later), alongwith fulfilling other eligibility criteria for admission to Ph.D. programme at NBRC. The applications through GATE/JEST/External Fellowship Channels are valid for Ph.D. programme only
M.Sc. (Neuroscience)
Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences (JGEEBILS)
Candidates will be short-listed for a two-tier interview based on their performance in the JGEEBILS examination.
* Candidates selected for M.Sc. (Neuroscience) programme will be eligible to switch to Integrated M.Sc.-Ph.D. programme of NBRC if they fulfill the required criteria.

Only Indian nationals
are eligible for the above programmes.
Reservation / Concessions for SC / ST / PH candidates will be followed as per
Government of India / UGC rules.
How to Apply ?
The Candidates can apply for admission to Ph.D or M.Sc. (Neuroscience) programmes at National Brain Research Centre (NBRC) either Online or Offline
Last Date of application from all channels (except JGEEBILS), both Online and Offline, to reach NBRC is 31th March, 2022
Application fee for various categories of candidates applying for Ph.D or M.Sc. (Neuroscience) programmes is given below-
General - Rs.300/- (Online Applicants), Rs.350/- (Offline Applicants)
SC/ST/PH - Rs.150/- (Online Applicants), Rs.200/- (Offline Applicants)

Offline
Candidates who wish to apply by offline mode need to obtain application form from NBRC. In order to obtain the application form, send a self addressed A-4 size envelope to Registrar, National Brain Research Centre, Manesar-122051 Dist. Gurgaon (Haryana). The last date for receipt of requests for hard copy of the application form is 15th February 2018
Offline applicants can submit the application fee by a Demand Draft drawn in favour of Director, National brain Research Centre payable at Gurgaon or Manesar. Send the Demand Draft and complete application form to the Registrar, National Brain Research Centre, Manesar-122051 Dist. Gurgaon (Haryana)
Please write your name and course applied for on the back of Demand Draft. JGEEBILS/JEST candidates should write their Reference Code/ Registration No. also on the back of Demand Draft. GATE/External Fellowship Channnel candidates should write their GATE Roll Number/Fellowship Roll Number, the year of examination and its validity period on the back of the Demand Draft
