The board examinations for class 10th and 12th will be conducted as per schedule from March 2 in the riot-affected northeast Delhi, but the students who won't be able to appear for the examinations can opt for a later date, said the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Sunday.

The CBSE Board opines that further delay in conducting the examinations for class 12th might hamper the chances of admissions in professional courses such as medical, engineering, law and other UG admissions.

A release issued by the CBSE said: "A few entrance examinations are conducted in accordance with the timelines fixed by courts and therefore, dates are sacrosanct. Similarly, JEE (Main) is also scheduled from April 3 to 19. The Board is also clear that for candidates who are in a position to appear for the board examinations, it would be very stressful and cause immense anxiety if the examinations are further postponed."

The CBSE has asked the school principals and the Directorate of Education, Delhi to provide a list of such students.

Candidates from northeast Delhi who won't be able to appear for the examinations need to contact principals of their schools, the board said.

The board exams scheduled for February 26, 27, 28 and 29 were postponed in northeast Delhi due to violence in the area and it was said the new dataes for the exams will be intimated to the student.
