Dimoria College is the brainchild of a group of highly motivated social entrepreneurs who in the seventies dreamt of bringing the gospel of Higher education to this relatively backward tribal belt area of Dimoria. Led by the indomitable zeal of patrons of learning like late Padmakanta Deka (founder president ), Late Santa Ram Deka (Founder secretary ),late Prasanta Deka , late Gopinath Sarma, late Krishna Kanta Bhuyan, the people of Dimoria started a public campaign for the establishment of a college. Their effort were augmented by donation and cooperation from all sections of local society ranging from rich businessmen like Omkarlal Agarwala to Humble thelawalas and firewood sellers.The college was inaugurated on 29th August,1979
Laboratories: State of the Art Laboratories with sufficient space and all the necessary equipment are made available to various departments. The Departments of science & Technology, Govt. of India has provided them with various new equipments and devices like GPS and funded a new Air conditioned Computer Lab. Which is being jointly utilised by the Department of Environments Management & Computer Science.
Library: The Dimoria College Library is Constructed with a state of Art desigen and situated at very calm location. It remains open from 9.00 am to 5.00pm students may borrow books from the library against the library card . Books can be photocopies in the library itself. The central Library has a collection of more then 18,000 books. Moreover there are more then 12,000 books available in different departmental libraries. Agood number of national and international Magazines, Periodicals, Jurnals and news paper are subscribed by the library which has also got a rare reference book collection. The Library is automated by the bookbank software by pacific technologies.
Book Bank:
The college has a book bank for helping the poor and backward class students.
Museum:
The college has two museum. The first in the deptt. Of Anthropology and 2nd is in the dept . of Folklore. The boast of a rich collection of artifacts and different cultural items of high value. Their objective is to highlight the rich ethno-cultural heritage of assam in particular and North-East in general.
Internet: The college has a well equipped Internet cafe in library building with all the facilities of downloading and printing. Moreover all the departments are linked to the departments.
Audio visual Aid: Dimoria college processes overhead LCD projectors, laptops, DVS players etc which are used for Teaching, Learning, Seminars and Conferences.
Auditorium:
A multipurpose Auditorium complex with facilities for large meetings, cultural programs and indoor sprts activites is under construction and is also being partilly used for those purposes.
Hostel Facility
Hostel facilities for both male & female students are available within the College campus. There are two Hostels for Boys and there for girls respectively. Another new UGC sponsored Girl''s Hostel with large accommodation facilities is nearing completion and is being partially used by the students. Hostel seats are allotted strictly on merit basis. Students can apply for Hostel seats immediately after taking admission to the college.
Scholarship Facility
For students who are meritorious but economically weak the College has a special provision of fees relaxation during the time of study in the College.
A student who secured 75% or more marks in aggregate in his/her Final Examination is awarded a cash prize of Rs.1000/- (Rupees one thousand only).Strudents belonging to SC/ST/OBC/MOBC are awarded scholarship as per Govt. of assam rules. This includes merit scholarship also
