Mt. Carmel College of Teacher Education for Women, established in 1953 is the First Aided Women's Training College in Kerala. Mount Carmel College of Teacher Education for Women, formerly known as Mount Carmel Training College belongs to the Carmelite Sisters of St. Teresa (CSST) Institute founded by Mother Teresa of St. Rose of Lima in the year 1887. The duration of M. Ed programme shall be of Four Semesters The duration of each semester shall be a minimum of 630 to 700 hours distributed over 90 to 100 working days spread over 18-20 five day working weeks. First Semester and third semester is from June to November in the respective year, Second Semester and fourth Semester is from November to May in the respective year. Inter Semester Break after I and III semester will be 10 days in the month of November in the respective year. Inter Semester Break after II Semester will be 15 days in the Month of May. The specific days for each Inter Semester break in each year shall be decided by the Staff Council.
