Karve Institute of Social Service, Pune, established in 1963, has been continuously finetuning
with higher education policy and the scenario in social work education almost since
its inception. The Institute has a legacy of social work, social service and social
development. It continues to take significant initiatives - in adopting course modules to cater
to the changing needs of the social work profession, value based education, capacity building
training programmes, relevant research studies, issue based interventions and socially
relevant field action projects, innovative pedagogy and best practices. Inbuilt systems for
inclusive policies and approaches, measures of quality sustenance and enhancement for
excellence in social work education, contributing to national and sustainable social
development are part of the ethos of the Institute.
