Indian Institute of Technology (IIT (BHU))

Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) Varanasi (IIT (BHU) Varanasi), formerly known as Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University (IT-BHU), is an Indian public engineering institute located in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India. Founded in 1919 as part of the Banaras Hindu University, it was designated an Indian Institute of Technology in 2012. IIT (BHU) Varanasi has 13 departments and three inter-disciplinary schools.

Students are required to live in one of the 15 hostels throughout their stay at the institute.

 Scholarship Facility

The Institute offers Merit-cum-Means scholarships to 25% undergraduate students. Besides, there are several endowment scholarships offered by the Institute. Some other facilities are also provided to the undergraduate students in the form of Institute free studentship, scholarship, re-imbursement of mess charges and pocket allowances to the students belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.

All the students (non-sponsored) admitted to M.Tech./M.Pharm. programmes are provided financial Assistance equivalent to the Junior Research Fellowships.

The Institute offers a large number of Junior/Senior Research Fellowships to students admitted to Ph.D. programmes. Efforts are being made to offer scholarships to all eligible candidates admitted to Ph.D. Programmes.

Training and Placement Office, IIT BHU Varanasi, facilitates the placement process of students passing out from the Institute, besides collaborating with leading organizations and institutes in setting up internship and training programs for students.
