As a part of government policy to ruralize agricultural education in the country, a new Agricultural College was started in 1996 for Hassan district. Initially the classes were conducted at GKVK campus due to non-availability of infrastructure at Hassan. Subsequently the new campus at Karekere, Hassan was established in 2006. The Campus has 184.25 acres of land opposite to Agricultural Research Station and Biofuel Park, Madenur which is located at 21 kms from Hassan on Hassan-Bangalore Highway (NH-48). Hassan is well connected by road and rail. The nearest airports are Bangalore and Mangalore.
There are well equipped laboratories for teaching and learning core and allied subjects of curriculum. State-of-the-art agricultural chemistry laboratory is established for conducting chemical analyses of diverse plant and soil samples as a part of curriculum as well as contemporary research. A central instrumentation lab is equipped with HPLC, Atomic Absorptio Spectrometer, UV-Vis. spectrometer, automated soxhlet system, automatic kjeldahl system, flame photometer, etc. A central computer facility with 50 computers and internet connectivity is functional in the campus.
