The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Pune is a premier institute dedicated to research and teaching in the basic sciences.
Established in 2006, the institute falls under the purview of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (vide communication F.No. 22-8/2006-TS.1).

	Eligibility 55% marks (50% for SC/ST) in: M. Sc. or equivalent degree in Chemistry/ Physics/ Biochemistry/ Material Science/ Bioinformatics/ Pharmacy The candidate should have qualified National Eligibility Test (NET) with CSIR-JRF/UGC-JRF, CSIR-LS, JEST or INSPIRE-Ph.D or GATE. The following ranks for GATE will be eligible. Organic chemistry applicants: 1-500 ranks; Inorganic and Physical chemistry applicants: All ranks
	Admission Procedure Selection : Only Eligible candidates that meet the minimum educational qualifications and satisfy the additional criteria set by the departments will be called for a written test followed by an interview that may be conducted in 1 or 2 rounds. Based on their academic record and the performance of the candidates in the written test and interview, the departmental selection committee will recommend candidates to the Chairman for admission to the Ph. D. program
