Mankachar College was established in 1971 with Arts Stream alone. The organizing meeting of the college was held on the 8th day of March, 1970 in the J.M.H.S. School premises with Late Zahirul Islam, the then MLA of Mankachar L.A. Constituency in the chair. He was President of the Organizing Governing Body of the college and Sri Shankarlal Agarwala, M.Com, L.L.B. was the Secretary of the college till 1981. The college came under Deficit Grants-in-Aid system on 1st September, 1981. The general people of the locality contribute generously for the development of the college. So, the college was nomenclature as "Mankachar College"
Library: The Library is well-stocked and fully-computerized. It has around 26500 books covering almost all aspects of Science & Humanities. It regularly subscribes to about 05 Periodicals including 04 daily regional and national level newspapers in Assamese and English. Services offered by the library are circulation books among the students and faculties, consultation, reference etc.
Gym : The College has gym facilities with modern equipments. The facilities are available to all the students of the college.
Modern Teaching facilities: The College has ultra-modern audio-visual teaching facilities like teaching with the aid of power board, LCD projector, etc. The College campus including the classrooms is under CCTV surveillance system. There is one computer centre in the college with 35 computers having Internet facilities.
College Canteen: The college has well furnished canteen facility inside the campus. The canteen is the hub of out-of-class discussions and exchange of information. It provides snacks, drinks and lunch at reasonable rates.
