MCM DAV College for Women, Chandigarh popularly known as MCM, was established in 1968 by theDAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi, to commemorate the meritorious services rendered by Justice Mehr Chand Mahajan, former Chief Justice of India, a distinguished legal luminary, great patriot, administrator par excellence, committed educationist, social reformer and humanist.
Since its inception in 1968 with merely 250 students and functioning from the borrowed rooms of DAV School, Sector-15, Chandigarh, MCM DAV College has come a long way. Today, with more than 3000 students, it is spread over an area of 16 acres right in the heart of City Beautiful and boasts of imposing building, sprawling lawns and lavish playgrounds. Over the span of last 38 years, it has augmented its infrastructure in accordance with the increasing demands of new departments and courses that were introduced from time to time. The needs for expansion have been systematically identified, analyzed and assessed periodically to create state-of-the-art infrastructure in sync with the academic growth of the college.
Hostel Facility
The hostel is located in the college premises. There are four blocks furnished with modern amenities. MCM hostel is a big family, which consists of students from various states of India. An atmosphere of mutual consideration and friendly co-operation coupled with care and comfort makes the hostel an enjoyable place to live in and a quite place to do serious study and relax. All assistance is given to the individual student to adjust herself effectively to all aspect of college and hostel.
The College Placement Cell has been making consistent efforts to bring the job-seekers and the job-providers at a common platform. Many corporate giants like Google, Wipro, Dell, IBM-Daksh, Bank of America, HCL have been selecting our students and offering them lucrative jobs every year. The annual Maha Job-fest also makes the students more aware of the current market trends in the dynamic and fast changing global scenario.
