Idhaya college, founded in 1996 is a women’s college affiliated to the Alagappa University Karaikudi. It is a minority institution established and administered by the sisters of Immaculate Heart of Mary congregation, Pondicherry belonging to the catholic church. It is primarily meant for the higher education of deserving catholics, but members of others communities are also admitted without reference to caste or creed and their rights Of conscience are respected true to the vision of its founder the college commits itself to serve the economically weak, socially backward and needy students.
Laboratories : Well furnished Laboratories with sufficient equipment separately for all the science major courses. Many costly and advanced instruments are installed. Each laboratory is provided with Seminar hall, Lecturer hall and Stay room. Internet facility is also available in all Lab.
Library :many valuable and precious books and magazines were made available in the library for the students to cultivate good habit and develop their knowledge.

Hostel Facility
The college has a well furnished hostel building providing all the facilities necessary for the students. Very strict discipline is maintained in the hostel. The hostel has a scheduled program as early morning yoga and meditation, Holy mass and regular study hour. The students are provided with good food. On all second Saturdays the students are permitted to go home for weekends, water facility is available all the 24 hours.
