The Department was started in 1991 by Prof. Hari Singh, now working as Prof. Emeritus, UGC in the department. Presently, Dr. (Ms) Sharda Rani Gupta, Dean, Faculty of Life Sciences is the Chairperson of the department. The department has basic infrastructural facilities for research & teaching. Through Entrance Test; however, those students who have qualified UGC/CSIR-JRF/NET, GATE, SLET and UGC Teacher Fellowship holders are exempted from the entrance test. The students will have to do course work of one semester.
