M.S.P.Velayutha Nadar Lakshmithaiammal Polytechnic College was established on 14th August 1985 by the dedicated and service minded Thiru M.S.P.V. Kaliappan and Thiru M.S.P.V.Perianan in honour and memory of their parents Late Sri M.S.P Velayutha Nadar & Srimathi Lakshmithaiammal, to serve the rural based students in the most backward area of Tirunelveli District and this institution commenced its excellent service on 30th September 1985. It is Co-educational and self-financing Institution, offering three years Diploma students. The Polytechnic college continues to carry on providing quality education as an educational service to the rural people of this part of Tamilnadu. It fulfills all the requisite facilities demanded by the Directorate of Technical Education. All the Diploma Courses are duly approved by All India Council for Technical Education as per the norms of the Tamilnadu Government adopting curricular and evaluation system stipulated by State Board of Technical Education, Chennai. 	Eligibility Candidates for admission into the first semester of full time diploma courses shall be required to have passed: The SSLC examination of the Board of Secondary Education, Tamil Nadu with eligibility for Higher Secondary course (or) The Matriculation of Tamil Nadu / Central Board of Secondary Education Examination with eligibility for Higher Secondary Course. (or) The Anglo Indian High School examination with the eligibility for the Higher Secondary Course in Tamil Nadu.
