The Department of Microbiology was established in 1995 to provide education at the Master and doctoral levels in Microbiology and to disseminate knowledge and promote quality research and extension activities for farmers, industries and research laboratories. Microbiology is an applied subject as the microbes have diverse applications in pharmaceuticals, beverages, food and dairy industries. The Department of Microbiology is concentrating on the research fields especially Biofuels, Bioremediation, fermentation, medical and Biocontrol etc.
Library of the department is well furnished with a good no. of Foreign and Indian author books. Recently books worth Rs. 4 Lac (Approx). have been purchased for the departmental Library. There is one computer lab. with internet facility.
