Department of Psychology was inaugurated on the 10th of September 2007. It was the first of its kind in the south of Tamil Nadu to offer a regular Psychology course, especially for the students of Tirunelveli, Tuticorin & Kanyakumari. Presently, the department is offering M.Sc. Psychology and a Certificate Course on Counselling for Children with Special Needs. The department has been actively continuing its service to the students, academicians, industries and the community through Counseling, Psychological Assessments, Human resource Services, Life Skill development, Disability Empowerment, etc. Students who have passed out of this department are well recognized nationwide. To name a few, many students are recruited as Mobile School Counsellors, ICT Counsellors and Counsellors at University & Engineering Colleges; as Psychologists at Central Prison and at Government & Private Hospitals. Apart from this, they are also recruited for M. Phil at NIMHANS, one of the reputed Mental Health Institutes in India.
