The Quality assurance manager who supervises the quality control department, ensures that the quality of products or services meet the requirements of the customers. They help the business of a company to remain productive and lucrative by implementing and monitoring programs that ensure continuous quality. The major duties and tasks of quality assurance managers include verifying products are in proper working order and compliance with government laws, development of quality control procedures, monitoring productivity and efficiency, supervising quality control team members, controlling the inspection of quality tools and equipment, maintaining departmental records, maintenance and development of the ISO 9001 Quality System, developing project schedules etc. They should correct all the faults in the quality of a product and also oversee compliance to legal regulations. They also ensure that the products coming into the company from various vendors are also of highest quality.

Quality assurance manager requires good knowledge about the tools, concepts and methodologies of quality management.  QA managers are responsible for overseeing a company's inspectors, testers, sorters and samplers. They may use a variety of tools, such as computer software or physical inspections, to obtain the data necessary to perform the job. The manager directs the activities of workers in the department and creates the policies that detect and reduce quality problems. The quality assurance manager works to determine the cause of quality problems and defects. Once the quality assurance department determines the cause of a quality problem, managers can develop changes to production processes to eliminate the defect.
