The Lakshmi Mittal and Family South Asia Institute, Harvard University (The Mittal Institute) provides Building Bharat-Boston Biosciences Programme (B4) Fellowship for Indian citizens for pursuing research in Biosciences at The Lakshmi Mittal and Family South Asia Institute, Harvard University USA.
The Lakshmi Mittal and Family South Asia Institute at Harvard University engages through interdisciplinary research to advance and deepen the understanding of critical issues relevant to South Asia and its relationship with the world.
Founded in 2003 to further Harvard University’s engagement with South Asia, The Mittal Institute is a university-wide research institute at Harvard that engages faculty members, students, and in region institutions through interdisciplinary programs to disseminate knowledge, build capacity, inform policy, and engage with issues that are shaping South Asia today.
The Mittal institute will organize seminars at Harvard for Fellows to discuss their research with the broader community at the university and beyond.
Fellows are expected to reside in the Cambridge area and to actively participate in the events and intellectual life of the Institute. In addition, Fellows will contribute to the greater Harvard community by teaching, mentoring and advising students.
The mission of B4 is to nurture useful progress in the field of biosciences,
including biotechnology, through the development of partnerships with leading
universities and by engaging scientists from India and Harvard through exchange
programs
Scholarship Details
INR 195,000/month for 18 months. Health insurance and round-trip economy travel expenses to and from Boston will also be provided.
Up to eight Science & Technology Fellowships will be offered in fields related to the biosciences at Harvard University and other institutions in the Boston area
The applicants should be Indian citizens
Scholars should complete their PhD within the last five years from an institution in India in a bioscience-related field are eligible.
Exceptional senior doctoral students, with demonstrable independence and maturity, may be considered.
Selection Procedure
The applications will be scrutinised by an expert panel and the top eight applicants will be selected. The Mittal Institute aims to notify the selected applicants by late October.

This program is a collaboration between IBAB (Bengaluru, India), IISER (Pune) and The Lakshmi Mittal and Family South Asia Institute (Harvard University, Cambridge, MA). It is funded by the Dept. of Biotechnology, Govt. of India.
