New, high-caliber PhD students
Durham University, UK offers Doctoral Scholarships for new, high-calibre PhD students for pursuing their higher studies within the Faculty of Social Sciences & Health for the session commencing in October of the current year. International students across all of the Faculty's Departments and Schools can apply for a Durham Doctoral Studentship. Additionally, Home/EU students in fields not supported by Doctoral Training Partnerships will also be considered for these awards.

Durham Doctoral Studentships are tenable for 3 years and provide award-holders a tax-free maintenance grant set at the UK Research Council's national rate. It covers full payment tuition fees to the amount of £14,533 - the exact sum is announced annually by RCUK. Part-time award-holders are funded for six (6) years and receive a maintenance grant and research expenses allowance at 50% of the full-time rate.

In addition, candidates will usually hold or be completing a Masters degree in their area of proposed study or related discipline.
Selection Procedure
The candidates are selected on the basis of students academic merit and the other details filled in the scholarship application; the selected candidates will be informed through email.
Students financial status and nationality are not taken into account.

A research proposal, which is no longer than 2,000 words in length (excluding bibliography);
Two references; and
Transcripts of previous degree(s)
