IndianOil Corporation Limited-R&D Centre, India and Deakin University, Australia provides IndianOil – Deakin University Research Fellowships for Indian nationals to work in areas of Lubricant Technology, Tribology and IOC-DBT–Deakin Fellowships to work in areas of Biotechnology.

Selected candidates will undertake Research work at IOCL R&D Centre, Faridabad, India under PhD Research programme on a full time basis. Selected candidates will have to work under supervision of minimum two research guides. The guide from DU is the thesis supervisor (Principal Supervisor) as per DU degree requirements and a guide from IOC R&D (Lead Supervisor) will be overseeing the research in collaboration with the thesis supervisor during the research period in India.

All selected applicants would be required to register for PhD at Deakin University, Australia and fulfil the requirements for PhD degree

Fellows to work in areas of Lubricant Technology (1 vacancy), Tribology (1 vacancy) and Biotechnology (2 Vacancies).

Scholarship Details

Duration : 4 years

Candidates registered for PhD at Deakin University, Australia will receive

100% Tuition fee waiver inclusive of one time visit to Deakin University, Australia for 6 months.
DU will pay the costs of one return airfare and arrange boarding and lodging for this research visit.
IOCL will offer a fellowship amount for the period of study in India, which will be 25% more than that offered under CSIR/UGC Research Fellowship scheme.
HRA will be admissible at 30% of the fellowship amount

The Fellow will be required to apply for a valid Indian passport, procure required overseas insurance, health insurance, and bear other expenses.

Eligibility

Open to International students
Quality Master’s (M.Sc.) degree in Chemistry (Organic/ Inorganic/ Physical/ Analytical), Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry or related Sciences and M.Tech in Biotechnology, Mechanical Engineering or Tribology with valid GATE Scores (above75 percentile) from recognized Indian University.
First class in Graduation and Post-graduation level (65% or above marks in the final exams/ equivalent CGPA).
Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry or related Sciences candidates should have valid CSIR-UGC NET or DBT-BET qualification and meet requirements for JRF or DST-Inspire Fellowship.
Candidates with eligible English Language Scores (IELTS/TOEFL/ CPE/ CAE/ PTE or OET; IELTS score overall 6.5 with no band less than 6) will be preferred for enrolment into Deakin.

Age Limit: The upper age limit for applying for the award of scholarship in all the advertised disciplines shall be 28 years as on 30th April (current year) , which is relaxed up to 5 years in the case of candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ OBC/ PH/ VH and Female Students as per CSIR guidelines.

Shortlisted candidates will be called for Interviews at New Delhi / Faridabad. The exact location for interview will be intimated at a later date. No TA /DA will be paid for attending Interviews. Candidates have to make their own arrangements for stay etc. at New Delhi/ Faridabad.
