The New Zealand India Sports Scholarships are scholarships for Indian students intending to study bachelor degrees, graduate diplomas or post-graduate sports related programmes at New Zealand universities, Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics. The scholarships form part of the New Zealand Prime Ministers’ Education Initiative between New Zealand and India.

Not only will qualifications in this field help Indian students gain rewarding careers for themselves, they will also serve the ambitions of both sporting nations.New Zealand is committed to the New Zealand-India Prime Ministers’ Education Initiative and sporting education links are a valuable stream for continued engagement with India.

The New Zealand India Sports Scholarships are a partnership between Education New Zealand and the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Value of Scholarship

The scholarships cover one year of full time study only, and include

Subjects of Study

INZSS Scholarships are awarded to undertake Bachelor degrees, Graduate Diplomas, Postgraduate Diplomas and Masters level programmes in 
- Sport & Exercise Science or Sport and Exercise Management, Sport & Recreation

Approved mode: Full time study while physically based in New Zealand (not from distance)

Approved providers: New Zealand Universities, Institutes of Technology or Polytechnics (ITPs)

How to Apply for the Scholarship

Download and complete the NZISS Application form. Submit the completed application form, along with all required documents via email to before the submission deadline.

Applying for Study in New Zealand

Obtaining an offer of place at a New Zealand university or an Institute of Technology and Polytechnic (ITP) and applying for the NZISS are two completely separate processes. Education New Zealand cannot facilitate or participate in your application to undertake study in any way.

Please ensure you email your reference from a verifiable, institutional email address and include the candidate’s name in the subject of the email.

For information on how to apply to a New Zealand university or ITP, you will need to contact them directly. The institute’s website is often the best place to start.
