Banaras Hindu University, BHU Alumni Association, Ranchi offers Mahamana Malviya Scholarship for the students of Class XI and XII of CBSE schools. The Merit-cum-means scholarship called "Mahamana Malviya Scholarship" will be awarded to give the tribute to legendry Pt. Madan Mohan Malviya, the founder of Banaras Hindu University. The aim of the scholarship is to help poor and meritorious students to pursue higher education by mitigating their sufferings and economic hardship.

Scholarship Details

Mahamana Malviya Scholarship is awarded for one-year duration which is renewable after considering the all conditions for another one (1) year. Two boys and two girls each from Class 11 and 12 shall be selected for the scholarship. Each selected students shall be provided with a maximum amount of Rs. Ten Thousand (10,000/-) in an academic year along with a citation. Only one student will be granted the scholarship from a family in an academic year.

The amount of scholarship shall be given through Account Payee Cheque in the name of selected students. The scholarship will be limited to students of CBSE schools of Ranchi Municipal area only. Not more than 4 applications short listed by each school fulfilling the criteria should be sent to the BHU Alumni Association.

Eligibility Criteria :

Students of Class 11 and 12 scoring greater than or equal to 60 % marks or CGPA 7, or B2 grade in all the subjects at the annual exams are eligible to apply.
Students should record minimum 75% attendance throughout the academic year. An Attendance certificate is needed form the principal of school in this regard
The students should have good discipline and no adverse report regarding the conduct is
pending against him/her.
The income of the student’s parent/guardians should not be more than Rs 100,000 (One lac) per annum.
Students who are receiving scholarships from any other source are not eligible to apply

Selection Procedure

Selection of candidates for scholarship shall be based on the result; four (4) students (2 boys and 2 girls) of Class 11shall be selected for the scholarship.

Candidates should send the filled in application form along with the other required documents by courier or registered or speed post to "Shri Pradip K Thakur, Dty. The candidates short listed may be interviewed along with original certificates.

Documents required:

Duly attested copy of the marks sheet
Duly attested copy of the income certificate ( must not be more than 1 year old)
Attendance certificate signed by principal of the school
Character certificate signed by principal of the school
Declaration letter regarding non-receipt of scholarship from any other source from the student and countersigned by Principal of school
Two recent colour passport size photographs – one pasted on the application form and another separately attached. Name of the student & school should be clearly written on the back of the photograph being separately attached.
