Jawaharlal Nehru Scholarships for Doctoral Studies

Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund (JMRF), New Delhi offers scholarships for pursuing doctoral programs in India. These scholarships are being offered to Indian Nationals as well as Nationals of other Asian countries who want to pursue the PhD programs in India.

Subject areas:

A candidate may apply for scholarship in any one of the following broad areas of specialization:

Indian History and Civilization
Sociology
Comparative Studies in Religion & Culture
Economics
Geography
Philosophy
Ecology & Environment

Scholarship Description :

These Scholarships is provided for 2 years.The amount of Scholarship is Rs.18,000 per month for Maintenance allowance including Tuition fee plus Rs.15,000 per annum as Contingent expenses for study tours within India and to purchase of books, stationery, etc.

Eligibility criteria

Candidates should hold a first class post-graduate degree with minimum 60% marks in aggregate in both graduate and post graduate level
Already be registered/admitted for Ph.D. degree with a recognized University/Institution in India. Those who have applied for registration and have not yet been registered or offered as seat at the time of submission of application are not eligible to apply
Be a full-time Ph.D. Scholar

Age Limit: Candidates should not be above 35 years of age.

Interested candidates can download the Application Form for scholarships for doctoral studies from the website http://www.jnmf.in/jnmf_scholarship_application_form.pdf .The candidates should send the downloaded application form along with all the necessary enclosures and a Demand Draft/Postal Order of Rs.100/- drawn in favour of “Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund” payable at New Delhi to Administrative Secretary, Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund, Teen Murti House, New Delhi-110011

Documents Required:

A passport size photograph to be pasted on the form
A synopsis of not more than 1500 words or about 3 pages of 1.5 spaced texts
University Doctoral Monitoring Committee's report or Ph.D Supervisor's report
Ph.D registration certificate
Attested copies of Postgraduate degree, marksheet and all other educational certificates/ degrees showing marks obtained and the date of birth
