Jyotirmoy School of Law a unit of Jyotirmoy Education & Welfare Foundation provides Jyotirmoy Education & Welfare Foundation Scholarship for pursung Law degree courses(B.A.LL.B). The aim of the scholarship is to acknowledge outstanding performance and attract best talented students who are admitted to Jyotirmoy School of Law in accordance with the rules and regulations of the University of Calcutta and the Bar Council of India. Jyotirmoy School of Law established the Scholarship, freeship schemes and award of Gold Medals in the year 2009-10.The scholorship, freeship schemes and award of Gold Medals are available only for students of Jyotirmoy School of Law

Eligibility

The students who appears and pass in all papers in the University Exams in the first attempt are eligible for the scholorship.

Scholarship Amount : Jyotirmoy School of Law distribute the scholarship amount among top 30% of the students who score:

The total amount to be distributed as scholarship shall be 5 % of the Tuition Fee Collected. The scholarship will be divided in to three grades A, B, C.

Outstanding Performance Scholarship/Freeship

The freeship is available only for 12 students in a year, who are ranked according to the marks obtained in the aforesaid examinations. Students who who have secured 80% and above in  10+2(H.S/CBSC/ISC exam) and join the 1st year of 5 years B.A.LL.B course are eligible for this freeship and they need not pay the tuition fees for the entire year. Students who pass the relevant exams in the first attempt are only eligible for the freeship. 

Eligibility: Students who secure 1st, 2nd or 3rd rank in the examinations conducted by the University of Calcutta to which the college is affiliated are eligible for this freeship. If the University follows semester system, the marks obtained in both the semesters in a year shall be taken into account, as normally determined by the University or by any rule adopted by the University to determine the 1st, 2nd and 3rd rank.

The ranking should be among all the students of the University in the examination conducted at the end of the year / semester as the case may be 100% waiver of fees for the subsequent year. So the 1st, 2nd & 3rd rankers in the first year need not pay tuition fees for the 2nd year and 2nd year rankers need not pay for the 3rd year, and so on. If the fee is paid on account of delay in publishing the results by the University, the fee so paid shall be refunded.

Gold Medals

Jyotirmoy Education & Welfare Foundation award the Gold medals to the University toppers in various subjects in Law .

The scheme of Scholarship / Freeship and award of Gold Medals are administered by a Standing committee consisting of:
1) Chairman of Jyotirmoy School of Law or his nominee
2) Head of the Institution 
3) One teacher from JSL to be nominated by the Chairman in consultation with the Head of the Institution.

The Committee shall meet and finalize the name of the students eligible for Scholarships /Freeships and award of Gold Medal as and when needed. The Committee may recommend the forfeiture of such Scholarship/Freeship, if the scholar’s character and conduct are found unsatisfactory, as determined by the Committee. The aggrieved student may appeal to the Board of Trustees of the JEWF and the decision of the Board of Trustees is final. The Gold Medals would be awarded on the Founders’ day or any other special Day as determined by the Board of Trustees. The amount of Scholarships/Freesships can be adjusted towards the payment of tuition fees to be paid by the student, if so desired.

The application forms are available in the official website of the institute . Interested candidates can download the application form from the institute website. Completed forms have to be submitted in post or in person at the Jyotirmoy School of Law  office along with required documents.
