Government of India provides National Scheme of Incentives to Girls for Secondary Education. This scholarship is for students studying in class 9 girl students belonging to SC/ST communities.
The objective of this scheme is to establish an enabling environment to reduce the drop outs and to promote enrolment of girl child in the age group of 14-18 at secondary stage, especially those who passed Class VIII and to encourage the secondary education of such girls, the Centrally Sponsored Scheme. National Scheme of Incentives to Girls for Secondary Education was launched in May, 2008.

National Scheme of Incentives covers:

A sum of Rs. 3,000/- is deposited in the name of eligible girls as fixed deposit. The girls are entitled to withdraw the sum along with interest thereon on attaining 18 years of age and after passing 10th class examination.

Union Bank of India /Indian Bank are the implementing Banks
100% funds are provided by the Central Government for the  Scheme.
To be eligible for the benefit under the scheme the girl should be  unmarried and should be below 16 years of age (as on 31st March) on joining class IX
The benefit under the scheme can be availed with any one other scholarship scheme.
On maturity, the incentive amount along with interest is transferred directly into bank accounts of students following DBT mode by implementing banks through PFMS platform.

How to Apply

The Application Performa has been made available to District Education Officers/Principals of the schools in hard copy.

Application can also be downloaded from National Scholarship Portal www.scholarship.gov.in by the District Education Officer; the performa can be filled up by the student/school in excel sheet

The information of all the students of a school will be compiled in excel sheet and verified by the Principal of the school, which will then be sent to District Education Officers either through mail or in CD and hard copy

The District Education Officer (DEO) will login with user ID and Password generated by the State Nodal Officer and sent on registered mobile number of DEO

Aadhaar Enrolment ID (EID) can be used in case Aadhaar number of the student is not available. However, Aadhaar seeded Bank Account number is to be provided latest by 31st October for making disbursement of scholarship

National Scheme of Incentive to Girls for Secondary Education (NSIGSE) falls within the category of pre-metric scholarship.

The beneficiary girls studying in Class IX need to apply under Pre-Matric scholarship category.
The beneficiary girls are required to register as new user and then login to apply for incentive amount
For pre-matric scholarship, only two applications can be submitted through one mobile.
