UK Education Social Science Department

Social science courses includes sociology, social policy, administration and social work. There are some courses in social anthropology and sociology can be combined with anthropology

Sociology course may last for three years. Sociology and social  policy courses lead to a BA, BSc or BSocSt. Anthropology courses lead to a BA, BSc or BScEcon. Social work courses include placements and practical experience. 

Politics and Government is the study of political systems and theories. It is related to public administration courses and lead to a BA, BSc(Econ) or BSc. Politics can be combined with any subjects. These course last for 3 or 4 years with a year abroad. 

Law degrees  offer specific training for a career. These course last for 3 or 4  years with either placement abroad usually in Europe or in USA. Courses lead to the LLB or BA degree . To practice in UK , a further qualifications called Diploma in Legal Practice is required. 

Scottish legal system is different from the English system and only one Scottish university (Dundee) offers English Law.
