Indian Air Force conducts Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT ) to recruit adventurous Men and Women to Indian Air Force as Commissioned Officers in Flying, Technical and Ground Duty branches. The test is conducted twice a year in February and September. Advertisements inviting applications for AFCAT are out in June and December. For all entries other than NDA and CDSE and for all branches, candidates have to undergo the AFCAT. The test is conducted all across India by the Indian Air Force.

Eligibility Criteria

Flying Branch

Age: 19 to 23 years as on 01st January of the succeeding year (For eg: If applications are made on 2013. Age limit is -19 to 23 years as on 01 Jan, 2014(born between 02nd January, 1991 to 01st January, 1995) both dates inclusive)
Upper age limit for candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot Licence issued by DGCA (Indian) is relaxable upto 25 years.

Educational Qualifications: Graduates (minimum 3 years degree course) in any discipline from a recognized university who have attained minimum 60% marks in aggregate in all papers put together and have passed Maths and Physics at 10+2 level or B.E./B.Tech degree (4 year course) from a recognized university with minimum 60% marks in aggregate in all papers put together.

Candidates who have failed the Pilot Aptitude Battery Test (PABT) in an earlier attempt or a Flight Cadet suspended from flying training at Air Force Academy will not be eligible to apply

Technical Branch

Age: 18 to 28 years as on 01st January of the succeeding year (For eg: If applications are made on 2013. Age limit is -18 to 28 years as on 01st January 2014 (born between 02nd January, 1986 to 01st January, 1996) both dates inclusive)

Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics) AE (L): Candidates applying for AE (L) branch would be eligible if they have undergone a minimum of four year degree qualification from a recognized university or cleared Sections A and B examination of Associate membership examination of the institute of electronics and telecommunication engineers by actual studies

All candidates applying for AE (L) branch should have scored a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate in all papers put together

Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical) AE (M): Candidates applying for AE (M) branch would be eligible if they have undergone a minimum of four year degree qualification from a recognized university or cleared Section A and B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India by actual studies

All candidates applying for AE (M) branch should have scored a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate in all papers put together

Ground Duty Branch

Age (as on 01st January, 2014): Graduate, 20 to 23 years (born between 02nd January, 1991 to 01st January, 1994) both dates inclusive; Post Graduate/LLB (five years integrated course), 20 to 25 years (born between 02nd January, 1989 to 01st January, 1994) both dates inclusive; LLB (3 years after graduation), 20 to 26 years (born between 02nd January, 1988 to 01st January, 1994) both dates inclusive; M.Ed/Ph.D/CA/ICWA, 20 to 27 years (born between 02nd January, 1987 to 01st January, 1994) both dates inclusive

Educational

Administration and Logistics: Graduate degree (minimum 3 years degree course) in any discipline with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate of all papers put together or a post graduate degree/equivalent diploma in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of all papers put together

Accounts: Graduate degree in commerce (B.Com) (minimum 3 year degree course) with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate of all papers put together or post graduate degree in commerce (M.Com)/ CA/ICWA with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of all papers put together

Education: Post graduate degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of all papers put together

Candidates appearing in final year/semester examinations may apply for all courses commencing in January 2014 provided they fulfil the following conditions; candidates should not have any present backlog and should have secured a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate in all papers put together upto the last semester/year for which results have been declared at the time of applying/AFSB testing; candidates should be able to provide provisional/original degree certificate issued by university latest by 15th December of applying year.
