Indian Army Soldier Clerk's Examination

This examination is held four times in a year, as advertised in, the Employment News and leading newspapers.

Eligibility Conditions: Unmarried male Indian citizens (including those of Nepal) are eligible.

Essential Qualifications: 
Matric or its equivalent with English and Mathematics.

Age Limits: 16 to 23 years

Physical Standards:
Height: 167 cms, relaxable for certain regions
Weight: 50 kg, relaxable for certain regions 
Chest: 77/82 cm

Application Procedure: 
Blank application forms are available free of cost at local Recruitment Offices, District Collector's Office, Zila Parishads and Employment Exchanges. Candidates are at liberty to send their application on plain paper, handwritten/typed but as per format.

Selection Procedure:
Paper I (Time: 45 minutes Max. Marks: 100)
The eligible candidates are called for a written test in
(i)General Intelligence
(ii)Mathematical Aptitude
(iii)General Knowledge

Paper II (Time: 45 minutes Max. Marks: 100)
English (50 marks)

1. A Paragraph of about 15 sentences on one topic out of three or four topics. (20 marks)
2. Comprehension: A paragraph followed by 5 questions. (15 marks)
3. English Grammar: Common Errors. Narration, Voice, Articles, Propositions, Transformation of Sentences, etc. (15 marks)
4. Mathematics (50 marks)

There are 5 questions of 10 marks each. The questions are generally on Fractions, Percentage, Interest, Areas and Factorization.

Note: 
Questions in Paper I will be Objective Type and bilingual, i.e., Hindi and English. Paper II will be of Descriptive type. Only those fit will be called for Interview. Final selection will be on merit.

Promotion: A candidate recruited through the Indian Army Soldiers Clerks Exam can become a Commissioned Officer subject to certain conditions. Numerous NCO / JCO posts have been created to improve career prospects and post retirement benefits.
