B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) - Admission to the 5 year B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) Degree Program is made purely on the merit as assessed through Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). If more than one candidate gets the same rank in the merit list, the order of priority for the selection of the candidate against the available vacancies will be strictly based on the percentage of marks obtained at the qualifying examination. Candidates appearing for the qualifying examination in the year of admission shall also be permitted to take the Admission Test, but their admission to the course shall be subject to fulfilling the conditions stipulated in the Regulations at the time of admission and production of documentary evidence of their eligibility. All admissions shall be completed before 30th June of every year.
LLM - The LLM course is a two-year programme consisting
of four Semesters with specialization being offered in two subjects -
a) Business Laws & b) Human Rights Laws. Admission is based on a combined
assessment of :
a) the performance at the admission test conducted by the NLSIU ; and
b) performance at the interview to determine the aptitude for higher studies
and research.
Admission for Foreign Nationals
Admission for Foreign Nationals is based on satisfying the prescribed academic qualification and on a review of the academic and co-curricular accomplishments as assessed by the Admission Committee, preference being given to candidates from developing countries. They are exempted from taking CLAT. The candidate must have studied English language as one of the compulsory subjects in 10+2 or equivalent Higher Secondary School Examination. The Admissions Committee may organize an English language competence test.
Reservation :
For both the LLB and LLM courses 15% seats are reserved for SC candidates and 7.5% for ST candidates. 5 seats are reserved for Foreign Nationals (SAARC and other Developing Countries).
The Law School may adopt a separate selection procedure for admitting the candidates for LL.M. from among those sponsored by Governments, Universities and other bodies without diluting the minimum standards required for LL.M. admission.
MPhil - The duration of MPhil course is one academic year. Selection is based on the initial screening of the research proposals submitted by the candidates alongwith the application. Only selected candidates are called for interview and presentation based on which the final selection is made. Five seats are normally available to candidates of which three seats are reserved for teachers in law i.e for candidates sponsored by Universities and Law Colleges.
PhD & LLD- The candidates are selected on the basis of interview and presentation. A candidate admitted to these programme shall have to complete all the prescribed requirements within a maximum period of five years from date of admission.
Distance Education Courses - The course starts in July every year. Admissions are completed by 30th June every Year. However at the discretion of the Vice Chancellor, and for justifiable reasons, candidates may be admitted upto 31st August on payment of late fee.

1. A two year Master of Business Laws (P.G.Degree)
2. One year P.G.Diploma in Human Rights Law
3. One Year P.G.Diploma in Medical Law and Ethics
4. One year P.G.Diploma in Environmental Law
5. One Year P.G Diploma in Intelletual Property Rights Law
