Joint Management Entrance Test (JMET) : Programs Offered & Eligibility

From 2012, the Joint National Management Test (JMET) will be replaced by CAT as the eligibility criteria across all Indian Institutes of Technology in the country.

Candidates who have obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Technology or equivalent, or a Master’s degree in any discipline can appear for the JMET examination.

Students appearing for the final examinations can also apply.

Eligibility criteria to apply for the Management Programs of the individual Institutes are given below.

2-year full time programme on Master of Business Administration (MBA) B.E./B.Tech. or equivalent in any branch of Engineering with at least Second Class.  
IIT Bombay
S.J.M. School of Management
2-year full time programme on Master of Management (MOM) A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering with First Class or Postgraduate degree in Science with First Class.  
IIT Delhi
Department of Management Studies
1) 2-year full time Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme with focus on Management Systems
2) 2-year full time Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme with focus on Telecommunication Systems Management
3) 3-year part time Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme for working executives with focus on Technology Management
60% marks in aggregate of all the years/semesters (55% for SC/ST) or 6.75/10 CGPA (6.25/10 for SC/ST) in Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ Pharmacy/ BSc Agri. Engg. or Master’s degree in Commerce, Economics, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Applications, Electronic Science, Environmental Science, Operations Research, Computational/Information Science and Agriculture for the 2-year full time MBA programme. Additionally at least two years of relevant work experience by 1st August 2004 is required for 3-year part time MBA programme for working executives

Department of Industrial and Management Engineering,
2-year full time programme on Master of Business Administration (MBA) B.E./B.Tech. in any branch of engineering or equivalent with First Class
IIT Kharagpur, Vinod Gupta School of Management 2-year full time programme on Master of Business Management (MBM) First Class Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Engineering/Technology or Master’s degree in Science (with Mathematics or Statistics at Bachelor’s level) or First Class in Master’s degree in Economics/ Commerce (with Mathematics or Statistics at Bachelor’s level)
IIT Madras
School of Management
2-year full time programme on Master of Business Administration (MBA) B.E./B.Tech. or equivalent with First Class or equivalent from a recognized Institution or University. A Master’s degree with First Class or equivalent in any discipline from a recognized Institution or University
IIT Roorkee
Department of Management Studies
2-year regular programme on Master of Business Administration (MBA) Candidates with Bachelor’s degree in any discipline of Engineering / Technology or its equivalent or a Master’s degree in any discipline, from a recognised Institute/University with atleast 60% marks (55% marks for SC/ST) in aggregate or CGPA of 6.75/10 (6.25/10 for SC/ST) are eligible to apply

Applicants should note that they have to apply for and send separate application forms to IISc and different IITs as per their choices. Candidates are advised to refer to the details provided by each of the Institutes on their respective website. An applicant can apply to as many programmes as desired by him / her subject to fulfillment of eligibility requirements.
