National Institutes of Technology (NITs) are premier technical institutions of national repute, fully funded by Government of India. The Master of Computer Applications (MCA) course is one of the most sought after courses offered in the NITs and has a high job potential in IT sector in India and abroad.
Admission to MCA programme of NITs is on the basis of NIMCET a national level entrance test. This test is a common entrance test conducted by 11 NITs jointly for admission to their MCA programme. NIMCET is coordinated by Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology(MANIT) Bhopal. The first common admission test, NIMCET was conducted in 2005. The admission to first year of MCA prgoramme, offered by NIT Agartala, Allahabad, Bhopal, Calicut, Durgapur, Jamshedpur, Kurukshetra, Raipur, Surathkal, Tiruchirappalli and Warangal will be based on the rank obtained in NIMCET. Candidate’s score and rank based on NIMCET of particular year is valid for admission to MCA course to the Participating Institutes for that respective year academic session only. Candidates with an aggregate (all subjects put together) of 60% marks (6.5/10 CGPA) in Bachelor’s degree of minimum duration of 3 years from a recognized University in any discipline, with Mathematics as one of the subjects both in graduation and at 10+2 level are eligible.
