Zoology is a branch of biology that deals with the Animal life or Animal biology. The branch further relates to animal kingdom. It deals with the study that includes animal’s internal structure, embryology, evolution, classification, habitats and distribution of all animal’s both living and those who are extinct. It further covers structure, function, ecology and evolution of animals. Structural studies are carried out by dissection, and by microscopic examination. The functional studies are carried out by observation and experiment. Palaeontology supplies information about extinct animals. The course offers opportunity to the aspirants in various sectors that include faculty positions universities/colleges/schools, museums, or in zoos. It also offers opportunities in research and development. Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University has announced to undertake Masters degree program in Zoology from this academic session (July 2015) onwards.
